UMass Amherst

Off-Campus Activities

Situated in the Pioneer Valley, UMass Amherst is surrounded not only by the quiet, rolling hills of western Massachusetts but also by four other colleges--Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith.

Add those 8,000 undergraduates to the 18,000 undergraduates at our own University and you've got a vibrant, vital valley filled with restaurants, bookstores, movie theaters, art galleries, crafts shops and clubs as well as hiking trails and a seven-mile bike path from Amherst to neighboring Northampton.

Haven't got a car? Don't worry. UMass Transit's free PVTA bus service connects all five campuses, with stops in towns and shopping malls along the way. So check out the links on the left to enjoy the world beyond UMass.
