Professor Martha Hanner from Astronomy: Exploring Mars
Mars today is a barren, frigid desert, but was it always so? With its thin atmosphere, global dust storms, and towering volcanoes Mars seems an inhospitable place. Yet space missions to Mars have shown that ancient Mars was a very different place; perhaps water even flowed on the surface. Did primitive life ever develop there?

SPECIAL THANKS TO PROFESSOR VENTURA PEREZ
Special Thanks to Professor Ventura Perez
for his dynamic Pizza and Prof on October 20th. Here are some highlights of the program: Professor Ventura Perez of the Anthropology department spoke to students about real forensic science. Read More.
SPECIAL THANKS TO ERIC HAMAKO
A special thanks to Eric Hamako, a Doctoral Candidate in Social Justice Education presented at last week's Pizza and Prof. His discussion was centered around zombies in US popular culture like books, graphic novels and movies. Hamako compared the modern perception of zombies to how Americans view Arabs, Muslims, and East Asians, particularly Chinese.
Many clips from recent films like Resident Evil were shown to illustrate the point that Americans view zombies as the ultimate other; the other that no one wants to be. Today, the other has become Arabs, Muslims and East Asians. At the close of the talk, Hamako suggested ways to eliminate this perception.
