NETWORKING WITH ATTORNEYS
Thursday, October 22
5:30 p.m.
SBS Advising Center
128 Thompson
You are cordially invited to meet and network with College of Social and Behavioral Sciences alumni currently working in the field of law. This is your opportunity to ask about their practice, what law school is "really like" and what the future holds for the employment market. To maximize the opportunity for individual connections, we will use a "speed-networking" format with small groups of students meeting with each alumnus/a to converse with and ask questions about their career experiences.

CONSIDERING GRAD SCHOOL?
Then join us at the Annual Five College Graduate & Professional Schools Information Day.
Wednesday, October 28, 2009
11am-3 PM, Student Union Ballroom
Meet representatives from national and international graduate programs. Explore theology, medicine, social services, engineering and much more. This is free and open to the Western Massachusetts College Community. Sponsored by Career Services and Student Affairs and Campus Life.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK IN COMCOL
Grassroots Community Development is a four credit honors course that examines how poor communities use local knowledge and local resources to combat economic and political disenfranchisement. Students spend the spring term studying the theory of grassroots organizing and its application in a variety of case studies. We then spend our spring break working with a grassroots organization in the rural south. More Information.

REALITY, MORALITY AND MORTALITY IN THE ARTS
Thursday, October 29
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Memorial Hall
The spotlight will be on Michael Haley '65 as this successful actor, director and producer (A League of Their Own, Angels in America, Working Girl, Charlie Wilson's War) gives you an insider's look at the behind the scenes action of creating movies and television shows. As part of the Eleanor Bateman Alumni Scholar in Residence program, Haley will share his insights on a long career "living the life" in Hollywood. Come hear this award-winning, nationally prominent personality speak on campus!
Immediately following the talk, all guests will have the opportunity to visit with Mr. Haley at a complimentary reception.

WHO'S GOT YOUR NUMBER?
Tuesday, November 3
5:30 p.m.
Memorial Hall
Don't let your credit or identity get trapped!
Chances are you don't give everyday check and credit card transactions a second thought - but someone else may! With just a small amount of personal information, your identity can be stolen and cost you hundreds of dollars and many hours to correct.    A representative of Liberty Mutual will walk you through the steps you should take to protect yourself from identity theft. RSVP here.

The first international Open Access Week, October 19-23, includes talks on copyright issues for instructors, open access journal publishing, graduate student publishing, finding copyright-free images, and using open educational resources in the classroom.
