EXISTENTIAL FILM SERIES - JSA, SEPT 28
Please join us for our Fall 06 Existential Film Series Thursdays at 8:00pm, 406A Goodell.
A special Dean's Book Course film—open to all but of particular interest to DBC students—will show on Sept 28. Rotten Tomatoes summarizes the South Korea-produced JSA [Joint Security Area] this way: "This Korean thriller mines the historic tension between North and South Korea over activity in the JSA, the Joint Security Area, a region guarded by armies from both counties. When two North Korean soldiers are found dead there, it sets off a political chain of events that threatens to plunge the countries into war." Wildly popular in South Korea but never shown in the North, JSA will play Sept 28 at 8:00 in 406A Goodell.
And on Oct 12, plan to see A State of Mind, an astounding documentary, shot in North Korea, that follows two young gymnasts as they prepare for a lavish spectacle called the “Mass Games” involving as many as 100,000 performers.
