GRADUATING COMCOL SENIORS, WANT TO ADDRESS YOUR PEERS?
We're looking for a student speaker for the Celebration of Excellence (Saturday, May 23, at 9 a.m. in the Mullins Center). If you're interested, please send a 3-4 page (double spaced) sample of what you'd like to speak about. Speaking time at the ceremony will be 3-5 minutes, total.

PRESENTATION SKILLS WORKSHOP

Are you presenting at the Massachusetts Statewide Undergraduate Research Conference? Are you preparing a class presentation? This workshop will provide some useful tips on how to prepare for and deliver an outstanding public presentation of your research, academic, or creative work. The presentation is from 6-7:00 p.m. and dinner from the Loose Goose Café is provided.
The workshop will take place in the lounge outside of room 504 Goodell. Please RSVP to c3@honors.umass.edu if you would like to attend this workshop no later than Friday, April 10th by 4 p.m. with your name and workshop title.


BDIC INFORMATION SESSION
BDIC is the design-your-own-major program at UMass Amherst and is now housed in Commonwealth College. Concentrations in BDIC range from "Neuroscience" to "Film Studies" to "Entrepreneurship and Information Technology." Com Col students interested in the BDIC major are invited to an information session with Dan Gordon, professor of history and director of BDIC. A brief video will be part of the presentation.

Professor Mark Leckie, Geosciences will present "What's All the Fuss About Global Climate Change".
In an open discussion about global climate change, Professor Mark Leckie will discuss what is climate change and what is not. The scientific evidence, as well as the skepticism, will be considered in this talk.
The discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. and Sibbies pizza is served at 6:15. The discussion will take place in the lounge outside of room 504 Goodell. Please RSVP pizzaprof@honors.umass.edu no later than Sunday, April 13th, 5 p.m. if you wish to attend.

RESEARCH DIRECTOR NATIONAL PRIORITIES PROJECT
The National Priorities Project seeks a full time Research Director with strong quantitative skills to supervise the work and personnel in the Research Department. This position plans and executes the research necessary for the hard-copy and on-line materials NPP produces and works closely with other staff in the development and direction of the organization. COMMUNITY SERVICE LEARNING HONORS INDEPENDENT STUDY
Are you interested in designing your own service-learning independent study?
The Community Service Learning Honors Independent Study (CSLHIS) and CSL Practicum give students the opportunity to link service with a community organization to academic work. Students reflect on their service, integrate their experience with their academic interests, and produce a final paper or project.
The deadline to meet with the CSLHIS Coordinator is September 21st. Application deadline is Monday, September 28th. In order to reserve time to arrange a community service placement, students are encouraged to begin the process early. RENAISSANCE CENTER WRITING CONTEST
The UMass Renaissance Center is sponsoring its annual writing contest for undergraduates of the Five Colleges. The Francis Bacon prize for the best essay on a Renaissance subject in any discipline and the Petrarch prize for the best poem on a Renaissance theme.
There is no cost for entry and students can enter either or both contests. The prizes for each contest are a certificate, a book, and a cash award. Judges will be five-college faculty. The submission deadline is April 23. Entries can be brought to the Renaissance Center, 650 East Pleasant St. Amherst, (413)577.3600 or emailed to renaissance@english.umass.edu.

9TH ANNUAL JUNIPER LITERARY FESTIVAL
Join in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Massachusetts Review!
Come to any part or all of two days of readings and performances by emerging and renowned poets and writers; addresses; roundtables; and an independent press fair showcasing an exciting range of local, regional, and national publications, being held on campus April 24 and 25. All events take place in the Fine Arts Center Lobby and University Gallery. Free and open to the public. More Information.


FORMER MA GOVERNOR PAUL CELLUCCI TO SPEAK
Former Massachusetts governor Paul Cellucci will give a lecture entitled, ?Tax-and-Spend Massachusetts and Education Policy,? on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Cape Cod Lounge. Governor Cellucci will talk about the current fiscal problems in Massachusetts and education policy issues facing UMass. This event is sponsored by the UMass Republican Club. Admission is free.
