Incoming First-Year Students

UMass Amherst offers both merit and need-based scholarships to incoming first-year students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in a variety of scholarly, extracurricular, and leadership activities. As an academically talented student, you may qualify. Your application for admission to the University serves as your application for these scholarships. No separate application form is needed. If you are selected, you will be notified in writing by the University. More information on UMass scholarships for entering students is available through the University Admissions website.

In addition, Commonwealth College provides other scholarships to entrants whose SAT and GPA profiles are especially strong. For further information on these scholarships as well as UMass Amherst scholarships, follow the Financial Support link for Incoming Students.

Currently Matriculated Students

Once you are a matriculated student, you may qualify for other scholarships available from Commonwealth College. You must be enrolled at the University, having attended at least one semester, and also be a member of Commonwealth College to apply for these scholarships and fellowships. For more information, follow the Financial Support link for your class.

Additional Scholarship Information
