HONORS 291G

Commonwealth Honors Seminar is the first course in the two-part Honors Seminar Series. In this two-credit course, beginning honors students read a common text (chosen by upper-level Commonwealth College students) as they are introduced to honors-level research, information literacy and communication skills. Students should plan to take the 291G Commonwealth Honors Seminar within their first two semesters in Commonwealth College, and continue on to the one-credit HONORS 391D, Advanced Honors Seminar. Students may also incorporate service learning into their Commonwealth Honors Seminar experience by taking the three-credit HONORS 291R. HONORS 291R

This course has a Community Service Learning component and is an alternative to HONORS 291G in the two-part Honors Seminar Series. Students read a common text (chosen by upper-level Commonwealth College students) as they are introduced to honors-level research, information literacy and communication skills. HONORS 391D

Advanced Honors Seminar is the second and final course in the two-part Honors Seminar Series, formerly the Dean’s Book Course. If you have completed HONORS 291D, 291G, or 291R with a B or better, upon successful completion, this course will satisfy the Honors Seminar Series requirement of Commonwealth College. HONORS 391D carries a Gen Ed I. In 391D, students participate in a topical seminar-style course designed by its instructor. While the subject matter of each section is different, the requirements for each section are the same. Every section is open to students of any major, and advanced knowledge of the topic is not necessary. Students should be sure to check the Honors Seminar Series website for descriptions of each section.

HONORS 391G

This course is open to Commonwealth College students who have completed HONORS 191D with a B or better only. If you completed HONORS 191D with a B or better, this course will satisfy the Honors Seminar Series requirement of Commonwealth College, formerly the Dean’s Book Course. HONORS 391S
