Applying to Teach the Honors Seminar Series
Thank you for your interest in teaching a section of the Honors Seminar Series. Each term the course brings together honors students from all majors to engage in research and discussion on a wide range of topics. It’s an opportunity to engage with a talented group of students and to teach directly from your interests while giving honors students a glimpse of the possibilities of university-level research.
APPLICATION PROCESS
291G: Commonwealth Honors Seminar
These seminars are currently taught by Commonwealth College's interdisciplinary faculty.
391D: Advanced Honors Seminar
If you are interested in teaching this 1-credit seminar using a topic of interest you choose, please fill out this application and send it along with a curriculum vitae to the Dean’s Book Course director (honorsseminar@comcol.umass.edu). Email is preferred.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is $2000 for 391D (1 credit), which may be used on any legitimate research expense. Part of the stipend may also be used for enhancement of the educational experience in the seminar or for a social event connected with the seminar and involving all its participants. Faculty also have the option of donating the stipend to the Commonwealth College Student Research Grant program. The stipend is transferred directly to your department's GOF.
