In many disciplines, poster presentations are given at academic conferences, symposia, and other places where scholars share their work with one another (including the Massachusetts Undergraduate Research Conference). It can be very challenging to display and communicate all of one’s research findings on a single poster in a single poster session, however a poster-board display containing words and images, tables, graphs, maps, etc. can effectively support an oral presentation if it is done right.

Four or five key points represented visually can organize, synthesize, and focus your research findings for you as well as your audience.

Posters for DBC presentations don't need to be as large or full as those appearing at public research conferences, but they should still convey professionalism. The Commonwealth College Undergraduate Conference website provides helpful guidelines for designing posters. The following sites are also helpful.
