Service Advising

OCSL staff can offer one-on-one support to help you match your gifts, talents and interests to the right organization.

Here's how it works:

  1. Contact us.
Contact OCSL staff by calling us, sending an email or stopping by the office for good old-fashioned face-to-face contact.
  2. Survey your interests and skills.
Complete a short Community Service Advising Survey. With this form we hope to learn a bit more about you, the type of service that interests you and the talents that you have to offer. Also take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions...they just might answer questions you didn't even know you had!
  3. Get assistance.
Submit your Community Service Advising Survey to OCSL. Upon receipt of your survey, one of our Community Service Assistants (CSAs) will contact you. CSAs are undergraduate staff members who are familiar with local community organizations, knowledgeable about available service opportunities and trained to assist students like you. On your behalf, a CSA will research local service opportunities and compile a short list of ones that might be a good fit for you.
  4. Come in for a chat.
Once your customized list of service opportunities is ready, a CSA will invite you to come into the office for a short meeting to share the list, offer additional resources and respond to your specific questions or concerns.
  5. Get out and serve!
At that point, you'll have what you need to get off campus and into the community! What are you waiting for?
