IMPACT! Events

Commonwealth College’s Welcome Weekend and
early move-in
All IMPACT! students have the opportunity to move in before the rest of campus and spend Labor Day weekend getting to know other IMPACT! students, as well as new students in Commonwealth College.  Activities during the weekend include a white-water rafting trip and "Casino Night."  IMPACT! students and staff meet the first night of the orientation for dinner as well.

The annual IMPACT! retreat
The annual retreat happens early in the fall semester (usually the first weekend of school) and provides IMPACT! students and core staff a chance to get to know each other and build community.  In addition, we will collectively explore the intentions and possibilities of the program.  Year after year, students celebrate the retreat as an excellent way to kick off the year together.  Information about the retreat is discussed with students upon their acceptance into the IMPACT! program. The retreat for the 2009-2010 school year will occur in two parts and is scheduled for Sunday, September 13 (11am-3pm) and Saturday, October 3.

Residence Hall events
Staff in the residence halls, including peer mentors, RAs, and others offer programs throughout the year for IMPACT! students, as well as students from other learning communities in the dorm.  Examples include: E-bucks academic incentive program, open-mic nights, and movie nights.
