Course Meeting Times
Fall 2010
Monday, 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Plus 3 hours of service per week for 10 weeks.
Service Details
In addition to the scheduled class time, each student is required to engage in community service at one of the partnering community based organizations. You must reserve 3 hours per week for 10 weeks for this service commitment.
Course Description
Honors Seminar texts are chosen, in part, for the perspectives they present on important issues such as education, economics, race and religious identity. Relevant issues become the subject of discussion, research, and other coursework. CSL sections of the Honors Seminar connect coursework to community service.
As part of the CSL Honors Seminar curriculum, students do at least 30 hours of service with local community-based organizations. This integration of service with learning allows students to see how social issues play out in real people’s lives while providing an opportunity to meet community needs.
Honors 291AS fulfills the four-credit Honors Seminar 291A requirement. This section is open to all Commonwealth Honors College students.
How to Sign Up
You may register for this course on SPIRE. The instructor will contact you by email to discuss course requirements and service coordinating.
