COMMUNITY SERVICE LEARNING
For a listing of courses with a community-based component at all five of the local colleges, consult the Five College Course List. To learn more about highlighted CSL courses at UMass, visit our courses page.
Like the range of courses offered through the university, registration for CSL courses varies. Some CSL courses have open enrollment; students interested in these courses can register themselves via SPIRE. Other courses are restricted to members of CSL programs or to members of Commonwealth College. In addition, some CSL courses require that students complete an application. The CSL Honors Independent Study, which is open to all students, requires completion of a proposal.
Community organizations can recruit student volunteers through our online database of community service opportunities. Community organizations may also hire work-study students and pay them a reduced rate for their work.
